The Spiderbox "Point-To-Point Microwave" service is a non-terrestrial network, which does not rely on Telstra for the provision of any of its services. Unlike most other carriers in Australia, our microwave bypasses all of the Telstra exchanges and legacy PSTN (copper) network with our "Fibre in the Sky" wireless connections.
Since installation and provision can be achieved without the need to put shovel to ground, the up front costs passed on to the customer are extremely competitive when compared to performing the same task with fibre. Microwave is an excellent mid-range option for links that require more than DSL can provide, but don't quite need the gigabits that fibre can provide. The mid-range features are also reflected in the monthly pricing which is perfectly positioned for those who want to pay a little more for a little extra speed.
A great option for redundancy
No matter how well maintained a technology infrastructure is, fibre and Broadband networks running through public spaces are sometimes damaged and rendered temporarily inoperable, effectively cutting the critical link from a business to its data centre. Spiderbox enables businesses to avoid losing real-time access to their data centre in any event by providing a redundant link that will ensure continuity of data transfer to remote disaster recovery sites.
