Microwave Delivery

Does your business need more than DSL can give, but you don't want to invest the capital required for fibre?

Spiderbox Microwave service delivery can provide your business with a simple, scalable network strategy
with multiple layers of redundancy without the massive costs associated with laying your own fibre.

The Spiderbox "Point-To-Point Microwave" service is a non-terrestrial network, which does not rely on Telstra for the provision of any of its services. Unlike most other carriers in Australia, our microwave bypasses all of the Telstra exchanges and legacy PSTN (copper) network with our "Fibre in the Sky" wireless connections.

Since installation and provision can be achieved without the need to put shovel to ground, the up front costs passed on to the customer are extremely competitive when compared to performing the same task with fibre. Microwave is an excellent mid-range option for links that require more than DSL can provide, but don't quite need the gigabits that fibre can provide. The mid-range features are also reflected in the monthly pricing which is perfectly positioned for those who want to pay a little more for a little extra speed.

A great option for redundancy

No matter how well maintained a technology infrastructure is, fibre and Broadband networks running through public spaces are sometimes damaged and rendered temporarily inoperable, effectively cutting the critical link from a business to its data centre. Spiderbox enables businesses to avoid losing real-time access to their data centre in any event by providing a redundant link that will ensure continuity of data transfer to remote disaster recovery sites.

Connect from Anywhere
To Anywhere
As business technology requirements increase, so does the importance of access to quality connection at speed. Spiderbox Microwave Services can connect your business anywhere. Our comprehensive coverage is a breath of fresh air to many of our customers who have previously been forced into slow and unreliable DSL as their only option.
Affordability Spiderbox Microwave broadband is quite simply the most affordable way to get connected to superfast broadband for business that requires high performance and reliability. The savings are a reflection of the lack of physical infrastructure on the ground that is required with other broadband services.
Reliability The Spiderbox Last-Mile (Spiderbox to customer) wireless network is completely insulated from breaks in fibre-optic and copper networks which are often caused by civil works and other unexpected activities.
To minimise the risk of link failure, Spiderbox is able to back up any Last-Mile connection with a secondary ADSL link and setup automatic failover if the primary link fails. This is how Spiderbox can deliver excellent uptime, backed by comprehensive Service Level Agreements with guaranteed Quality of Service. So now customers can refocus on simply doing business.
Security Spiderbox microwave uses five layers of security to provide complete protection at the physical, network and application layers of the network. This is how we are able to provide a highly secure and robust system to keep out wireless eavesdropping and malicious user attacks.
Flexibility Temporary locations or businesses that relocate frequently can take advantage of wireless broadband and relocations are normally simple and not expensive. In most situations the wireless equipment can be quickly redeployed. In contrast once fibre has been laid it is a sunk cost that cannot be relocated.
Add to this simplicity of upgrading your service requirements with only a few hours notice and Microwave Broadband really steps ahead of the pack in provision of internet services.
Scalability The upgrade costs for wireless broadband services are typically much lower than legacy networks. Therefore, a business can start with just the required capacity and add to it as its requirements grow. As your bandwidth requirements change then we can upgrade the service within a few hours without the need to replace any hardware.
Add to that the flexibility of being able to ask for up to 100Mbit/s bandwidth on demand and it is easy to see that Microwave delivery is an excellent option for smart businesses.
Rapid Installation Microwave wireless is terminated with a standard Ethernet connection that can be connected directly to any computer, firewall, router or any other Ethernet device. Installation can normally be arranged within 14 days.

Tailoring a cost effective solution that's right for your business environment right now,
with the ultimate flexibility to remain suitable as your business grows
and the way you manage your business evolves with the marketplace.

Technical Benefits

TECHNICAL BENEFIT HOW DOES THAT RELATE TO YOUR BUSINESS
Low Latency
Faster Network
Spiderbox Fixed Wireless latency averages 5ms, and is usually no greater than:
<= 10ms (typical for sites within 5 kms of the CBD)
<= 15ms (typical for sites in outer metro areas)
Quoted latency figures is the round trip time taken for a packet of data to travel from a customer to the core of the Spiderbox network (and back again).
Spiderbox uses
Licensed Spectrum
Spiderbox makes use of Class License spectrum which is regulated by ACMA.
The amount of spectrum Spiderbox has available is enormous - roughly 4 times as much spectrum as Unwired, and 30-50 times as much as the mobile carriers. This enables Spiderbox to offer much higher data rates.
Spiderbox Microwave
Versus DSL
The speed and stability of DSL is directly affected by the signal to noise ratio at the end of that line. Negatively impacting factors include:
  • The length, quality and dimensions of the copper cable
  • The amount of crosstalk
  • Noise from sources in the business premises (including wiring)
  • Noise picked up from the environment eg radio frequency interference
  • Any faults that might be present
In addition, the end user throughput depends on operational decisions on backhaul and contention ratios. The line data available to end users from modems is highly variable in extent and quality and is not a reliable guide to ADSL performance.

Spiderbox Microwave delivers the premier broadband solution to the SME market with scalable, high speed internet connectivity.
